Coronavirus and the Range

First, the new building construction has been completed.  Let the tweaking begin.

Second, based on Scott’s reading of Gov. Whitmer ‘s latest Executive Order to Shelter in home, there are exemptions that would allow for some outdoor recreation.

7.  Exceptions

  • Individuals may leave their home or place of residence and travel as necessary:
    • To engage in outdoor activity, including walking, hiking, running, cycling, or any other recreational activity consistent with remaining at least six feet from people from outside the individual’s household.

Unless someone is reading this differently than I am, I think we are good to keep the ranges open for individual members ONLY (no guests), and any members must maintain a 6-foot distance from any other members anywhere on the property.  One member to a pistol bay at a time to maintain the required distance of 6 feet.  I am going to make an assumption here that a wife/husband (member/associate member only – no guests!) can co-exist in a pistol bay together under this Order but that is only an assumption at this point.  The Clubhouse and range house will remain closed during this time.

 Rifle range note:

2 people maximum in the rifle enclosure, and the two must maintain an open bench between them along with the 6-feet minimum distance anywhere else.  No member/associate member taking up the space.  Be courteous to others wishing to shoot.

Now, this is only if you absolutely must go and put some rounds down range!  It would still be best to stay at home and hunker down to ride out this virus.  If you really have to go out, do it safely and responsibly.

If anything changes, and I am sure it will, we will post the latest changes on the website and in an email blast to members.
